GREAT BUFFALO GIVEAWAY
HOW MUCH DID YOU PAY FOR THE BUFFALO AARON?
DO YOU HAVE A RECEIPT?
Much is coming to light and questions seem to be answered. Individuals have been waiting for weeks for gathering permits and return calls from Dan Tadgerson. I was told that Mr. Tadgerson and Clarence Hudak rented a truck and traveled west to pickup the buffalo Chairman Payment says he paid for. It is my understanding they are now asking for reimbursement for those expenses. The buffalo were given to different people in the tribe to process for distribution. Is our Chairman distributing buffalo meat not processed by a licensed processor?
I spoke with Clarence last week at the Conservation Committee meeting but didn't know about this until today. Clarence has been pretty straight forward with me so I will ask him about this at the next appropriate time I see him.
On page 27 of the March 14, 2008 Win Awenen Nisitotung it is boldly printed "CHAIRPERSON'S BUFFALO GIVE-A-WAY". Tribal Chairman Payment say,
"I am acquiring seven buffalo and distributing them throughout Units 1 through V in the UP, and throughout the Lower Michigan in Cheboygan, Detroit, Lansing, and Grand Rapids. Depending on how quickly I can get them processed, I will deliver them during the March or April tribal town meetings."
This all said under the caption "In our Indian Tradition".
It appears the most needy will not be receiving any buffalo as was done the traditional way. Only those that attend Chairman Payments Town meetings will be receiving the commodity. Our tradition very distinctly teaches us that nobody will go hungry as long as there is food to share.
A great majority of attendees at the Chairmans Town Meetings would not qualify for our tribal commodities but our Chairman believes they are in more need than the indigent. Lets see how many feel they are indigent and in need of the tribal commodities when it's handed out at the town meetings.
A true Leader would probably distribute the buffalo through our commodities distribution program.
In closing I would like to say to those waiting for a gathering permit or retrun call from Dan Tadgerson, It may be awhile until the buffalo are delivered.
