On Conditional Thievery
In an email chat on the upcoming mediation, Debra Pine gives her opinion. She makes it clear that she is against suing the parties involved. She says we are suing people that helped us. Well, they helped themselves to more than their share. What they have done is coined illegal.
Below is the chat string. Included is Basil Buchko's opinion on her statement.
Debra-Ann Pine: Why wouldn't you mediate with them? The tribe has spent 4 million plus to recover half of that. A jury trial will cost how much more and then what if the tribe looses. Then we are out even more money. Even if the tribe wins, we are still out more money than what was lost.
Not to mention you are suing people who helped us get the following:

Our Hunting & Fishing Rights.
A tax agreement with the State of Michigan.

Basil Buchko: Deb, these people did not help get one of those things! Each of those items are treaty rights, established well before these thieves came along. Did they enhance and strengthen? Yes, but that by no means excuses thievery. That's like saying the priest was a good guy even though he molested all those kids. They are nothing but thieves that lined their own pockets at the tribes expense! 5-14-10

Deb Pine thinks she's better than everyone else. She supports the corruption of her relative Bernard Bouschor. She is on record saying that the 7+2 were "entitled" to take money that was not theirs. She claims they built the Tribe, when really all they did was create a monster that would benefit themselves only.
Deb Pine is bad news, really bad news. Throw your ballot away before you vote for her.
