J.B. was well known for his generosity and his willingness to help anyone anytime. He was great friend to the Native people of the Sault Tribe. He will sadly be missed.

James Anthony Baron (May 8, 1945 - June 17, 2008)
James Anthony Baron, age 63, of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at War Memorial Hospital. He was born on May 8, 1945 in Watertown, New York.
James received his Master's Degree in Education from St. Procopius University in Lisle, Illinois and taught 6th grade with the Sault Area Public Schools. James was a member of St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church where he served faithfully as a council member. He also was a member of the Bahweting Singers. He enjoyed being outdoors, walking, hunting, fishing, and wild flower identification. James also enjoyed photography, drumming, antiques.
James is survived by his special friend; Jane Homminga of Sault Ste. Marie, MI, two sons; Erik (Tracy) Baron of Sault Ste. Marie, MI, Tim (Christie) Baron of Colorado, one daughter; Jennifer (Scott) Kenny of Ann Arbor, MI and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three brothers; Joe Bettinger, Bill Bettinger, and Adam Horski.
James was preceded in death by his parents: Elmer and Wanda (Horski) Bettinger and a sister: Carol Baron.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM through the evening on Friday, June 20, 2008 at the Sault Tribe Niigaanagiizhik Building (Cultural Center). Evening prayers will begin at 7:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 21, 2008 at the Cultural Center with Brother John Hascall as Celebrant.
Memorials may be left to the family of James Baron to help with funeral expenses.
I am James Baron's niece and I wanted to post a correction in regard to James's family. My mother, his sister that passed on before him is Carol (Bettinger) Arnold. He also is survived by his brother, Joe Bettinger, another brother, Bill Bettinger as well as two younger brothers Adam Horski and Edward Horski. His cheerful letters and kindness will be dearly missed by all of us and never forgotten.
